I started going to Food Not Bombs at the end of 2022. I was learning a lot about all the mutual aid organizing that was happening around COVID, and I wanted to participate in it. It's been a blast, and I'm meeting a lot of like-minded people there. Also, I love giving free food to anyone who wants it.
I see mutual aid as a criticism of capitalism (food shouldn't be treated as a commodity or an asset) and of the state (we can take care of people much better than the state can).
I'm there at Malcolm X Park in West Philly almost every Friday giving out free food!
